Saleena Group
ABOUT OUR INDUSTRY

"Import/Export Consulting has been big business since the 1990's and promises to grow in the years ahead. Specific knowledge of this sort is in great demand in this age of global marketing. When the need for specialized assistance in importing or exporting arises, it makes little economic sense for a company to hire permanent help. The overall cost of using a consultant to solve specific problems is usually more cost-efficient than creating a regular job."

"A person (or group of people) in this business can charge a predetermined fee for a predetermined amount to establish a contract-labor arrangement".

According to a handbook titled, "America's Best Business Opportunities for the 21st Century". Import/Export Consulting is listed as a fast growth industry during the 21st Century.

THE BENEFITS FOR THE EAST AFRICAN UNION

All three countries that make up the East African Union are currently experiencing a significant economic recovery following a recession over the last two decades of the 20th Century. Additionally the economies of the three countries are now merging into a single entity, along the lines of the European Union. This very phenomenon is creating a multitude of new business transactions resulting in significant job creation. The significant increase in business volume is resulting in a pressure to export East African goods and services overseas. The goal of the Saleena Group is to direct a portion of this flow of exports to the United States.

Presently, there is a set of trade laws already in place to facilitate this effort. THE AFRICA GROWTH AND OPPORTUNITY ACT was implemented during the Clinton Administration. Under the provisions of this Act, (presently) a group of 37 eligible African countries can export any item (out of a list of 6500 items) to the United States duty free. Quality exports from the East African Union can enter the American marketplace at competitive prices (due to their duty-free status).

THE BENEFITS FOR THE STATE OF WASHINGTON

According to research conducted by Carl Gipson, Director of the Small Business Project at the Washington Policy Center, currently Washington State is currently experiencing some significant economic challenges.
  1. Washington has the third highest Small Business failure rate in the United States.
  2. Washington has also been experiencing a trade deficit for the last two decades . Considering that the state’s economy is largely dependant upon trade, that could be considered significant.
This agreement is meant to address the financial challenges that the State of Washington is currently experiencing, as mentioned above.

HERE ARE A FEW REASONS WHY KENYA AND THE EAST AFRICAN UNION IN GENERAL SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A GOOD CANDIDATE AS A TRADING PARTNER FOR WASHINGTON STATE IN THE YEAR 2007

According to the March 2006 Edition of the “New African” magazine

“ The NARC government ( the government that came to power in Kenya following the last General Election held in December 2002) has made tremendous progress as it has redeemed the country’s economic fortunes from a miserable 0.2% growth in 2002 to 5% in 2005. Agriculture, telecoms, transport and tourism sectors have been credited to be the main contributors to this economic turnaround.”

An article in the April 12th 2006 edition of the “ Daily Nation”, a prominent Kenyan newspaper says

"International investors now rank Nairobi among Africa’s best cities for both business and residence”.

Even the People’s Republic of China, respected in these times as a powerhouse in world trade, has recognized Kenya’s potential. According to another article in the “Daily Nation”, dated March 29, 2006.

"Kenya has been selected as one of China’s main trading centers under a multi-billion shilling project to increase trade between the two countries.”

"China has agreed to build manufacturing industries dealing in products ranging from computers to mobile phones.”
